Our Big WHY: Community Resilience Building! Through our partnership with the nonprofit Africa Foundation, you can choose to spend your days working with the teachers and students at nearby local schools, including preschool, primary, secondary and special needs. Additional opportunities provided to support the Foundation’s community resilience work. This time learning from people in local communities and contributing your expertise to a dedicated nonprofit serving the under privileged rural communities of Zululand certainly will be a trip highlight.
Our service time is intentionally scheduled between daily game drives so you also can fully experience the awe of the sacred African land at the award winning Phinda Reserve. The ethos of Phinda: Care of the land. Care of the wildlife. Care of the people. Our visit includes both morning and evening safaris. The remaining free time allows you to connect with yourself, with nature, and with your amazing travel mates.
Upon arrival, you will settle in at the Kwa-Zulu Natal North Coast of South Africa – a true paradise with its warm climate, blue oceans and tropical coastal forests. This stay is about relaxing and recovering from your travels. Accommodation: 1 night at the Fairmont Hotel with five outdoor swimming pools. Stroll the world class trails that meander through abundant forests and a championship golf course. Enjoy breakfast with a view as we prepare to journey north to Phinda.
Phinda, with its seven different eco systems, is one of Africa’s Jewels. It hosts some of the finest animal interactions on the continent and is abundant with Big 5 viewings. In addition to the 8 included game drives, you might choose to participate in current conservation initiatives – perhaps a rhino dehorning or an elephant collaring.
