Rod Knecht has 42 years of policing experience, including recently retiring from seven years of serving as Chief of Police for the Edmonton Police Service. Rod previously completed a 35 year career with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), serving in 16 communities across Canada in varied duties that included Drug Enforcement, Customs and Excise, Money Laundering, Homicide, Undercover, Intelligence, Major Projects, Counter-Terrorism and Uniform and Indigenous Policing, along with over 20 years in leadership roles as a senior police executive. Rod retired from the RCMP as the Senior Deputy Commission, ranked as the most senior uniformed police officer and second in charge of the 31,000 person national police service. Rod is a past president and an Executive Advisory Group member of the international Leadership in Counter Terrorism Alumni Association and his intelligence gatherings include the 2017 Edmonton Attack. He lives with his wife in Edmonton, Canada.
