April Smith, JD, is an attorney, public servant and advocate for the well-being of children. She manages a team of attorneys for the State of Texas where she ensures that children receive the support that they need and deserve from both parents. The daughter of a retired Colonel, she has a special interest in supporting parents who have served our country and advocates for the hiring of Veterans as State employees. April graduated from the University of Iowa, College of Law with a doctorate of jurisprudence and from the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Journalism. When she is not defending the rights of children, April enjoys volunteering, traveling, designing clothes and reading. She also enjoys spending time with her nieces, great nephew, and her rambunctious dog named Kenny. She lives in San Antonio, Texas, proudly claiming the title of “Military City, USA”.
